My beautiful daughter loves The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. So I made her this 4ftx6ft blanket of Smaug flying over The Misty Mountains for her to take to college with her.
It took about six months because I had to pull out the middle section and do it over. It’s supposed to look like an old map. I love the way it turned out!
I created the pattern from a picture I found on the internet of the map on the inside flap of the book.

I believe they call blankets like these “stash busters.” I needed a project that would use up a bunch of these odds and ends yarn colors, and these owls were perfect! I think they are so cute.
The blanket is 2ftx4ft. I got the pattern from Pinterest. It took me about 6 weeks to make, and I finished it just in time to gift it to a dear friend who had a baby.

Here is another baby blanket. This one went to my new nephew. This is the first blanket I’ve done using blocks instead of stitching it as a whole blanket. In some ways it was easier because the smaller blocks were faster to make, but, boy howdy, it was finicky to put together.
This blanket is 2ftx4ft. I created the pattern based on clip art I found online.

Yet another baby blanket. This time for my neighbor who after having three boys, was finally blessed with a girl! She was so excited, and I couldn’t let the moment slide without giving her something sweet and pink.
This blanket is one of my favorites. It’s another 2ftx4ft. I tried a new technique where I surface crocheted the black edge lines last, and I love the way it turned out! It adds a sharpness to the edge that makes it look more like a drawing than yarn. I love it! And I can’t wait to try this technique again!
It took about 6 weeks to finish, and it is made from a cross stitch pattern I got from Pinterest.
