Smoothies!

Whoever thought of smoothies ought to be congratulated. They are tasty, healthy, easy, and cheap!

There are many, many variations, so it’s easy to work with what you’ve got! Here’s a rough template for making smoothies:

  • Greens: I like to use spinach or kale. Use as much or as little as you like
  • Half a banana: frozen or fresh (peeled)
  • Frozen fruit: I like a combination of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and cherries, depending on what is in season
  • Yogurt: I use my homemade vanilla yogurt. Delicious!
  • Milk or juice or water: just to make blending easier. I like using milk.

Throw everything on the blender and blend until smooth. If it’s too thick, add more liquid. If it’s too thin, add more fruit or greens. I like to add chia seeds to mine after blending, for a little seedy texture. Enjoy!
